Palaces, Food, and Violins.

Sunday, wow what a day. After sleeping in to rest up and enjoying a wonderful Latvijn breakfast we struck out and went to Queen Catherine, (pronounced "Katrina", go figure) and what an incredible place that is. This was the Queen Wayyyyyyyyy back when Latvija was part of the Russian Empire and Czars etc was in charge. Anyway, it was beautiful and the gardens are spectacular. Sonny would love them because of the many types of roses. (All labeled)

From there we were off to Riga for a great Latvijan meal and really good dessert. Laila and Harry doesn't know that you can actually have a meal without dessert, and I'm not about to be the one that advises them.

Then off to downtown Riga to walk around, take a couple of pics, then to a concert featuring a guest violinest that was out of this world. After 4 curtian calls, he played one of his favorites then got 3 curtain calls after that. Incredible!!!!

Then back to the house, a diet coke, shower, and off to bed for them but to my blog for me. It's an early day tomorrow so I'll post a couple of pics and shut it down myself. Can't wait to see you all and show all the pics and share actual experiences. These two are wonderful and we are having a ball. (No I'm not trying to rub it in, just letting you know)

Here ya go!! Love you...

30 Oct

What a day in Latvija! Harry is a Photography Artist and had a showing today that was wonderful. His theme was the "People" of Latvija and their lives. Not political, not scenery, just folks. He is talented and I was/am privileged to have seen it.

Then it was off to see the Baltic Sea and other sites before sampling the "best pancakes in Latvija" before heading back.

More to come tomorrow and I hope you are enjoying this.

Day 1 on the road

Travel Day 1 is nearly over. It is 12:30 PM Friday 28th here in Amsterdam and 4:30 AM in Waveland. (Been a long day). Schiphol is a huge airport but beautiful. Ya gotta see it to believe it. Nice flights, nice people, and just an all around good day. Are you ready for this? Delta actually served a hot dinner last night and a hot breakfast this morning. Will wonders never cease. Leaving for Riga, my first long stop, in one hour, so better start buttoning things up. Will update when I can. Hope you all enjoy this. Lemme know.

Made it to Riga safe and sound although a little late. Laila and Harry were waiting patiently for me and off to the church for a concert with the oldest pipe organ in Latvia. Wow! Awesome. Then it was to the store, home, and now blogging. Harry was showing me the intricacies of the shower, towel heaters etc. then he pointed out the shampoo for me. LOL.. When he realized what he said, he mentioned that it could also be body shampoo. I’m going to have fun with these folks.
(View these from the bottom up. I will do better next time)
1,2, & 3 are my flights.
4 is a lovely lady oral surgen on the flight to Riga.
5 is the church where we listened to the concert.
6 is Harry & Laila.
Oh well, it’s been about 32 hours since sleep, so we are about to eat and I think I may CRASH. Will continue to update.

Enjoy..
