Lake Powell

Hello from Austin Texas. Two very long but wonderful days. Spent the morning at the University of Texas and the campus is beautiful. (Not nearly an LSU, but beautiful). Then if was off to the LBJ library and museum. Wow, had no idea who he really was and what kind of life he led. It was a very educational experience.
After that I toured the State Capitol building and it and the grounds are VERY nice. Lots of history and lovely archetecture. A must see if you're ever in Austin.
Shut it down for a couple of hours then it was off to the Lady Bird Lake for a stroll then to the Congress bridge to watch 1,500,000 bats wake up and go out for their meal. What a sight! They live under the bridge and come out every evening at sunset. Lotsa folks watching.
Then a quick tour down 5th and 6th streets for some music and sightseeing. (Kinda like a small, tame, Bourbon Street. Still great fun.
Back to the room to shut down the day with a Rusty Nail and a few minutes with you before I head out tomorrow for San Antonio. More updates for you then. Enjoy, and stay safe..

  1. Looks like a great start to your big trip! Glad you got to see the 'bats' - that must have been a bazaar thing to see! Also, I'm jealous about the Presidential library.....I'd go to see any of those if I had the chance! Safe travels to you.
