Mykonos

Hello from Mykonos, Greece,

What a day. I almost decided against going into town today and so glad I went. Jim, Dee & I went to town about 9:30 and got back to the ship a little after noon and how pleasant the trip was. There were a lot of white buildings that consisted of homes, shops, restaurants, bars, and who knows what else. As you can see there are lots of very narrow streets that cars and trucks still navigate like no big deal. Glad I’m not having to drive.
The windmills are pretty impressive. They were used to grind grain I understand and now they just look good. Go figure!
We will head to Ephesus tomorrow. I’ve been there once before, but am looking forward to seeing it again. Again, Katrina sticks her ugly head into my life because she took all my photos from the previous trip. I, again, will be taking copious photos to share and again I hope you’ll enjoy them with me.
Anyway, it’s been great AGAIN. Still eating too much, but all my clothes still fit so I’m not over the top yet.

From Athens

Hello from Athens and The Acropolis,

Nice day today just taking our time around Athens and Piraeus.

Piraeus is where the Princess actually docked and we took a “Hop on Hop off” bus in to Athens to see the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Nice easy trip and as you can see with the photos, it was a very pleasant day. We spent far too much time at the Acropolis and the Plaka shopping so we didn’t get to tour Athens but that’s ok. It all starts coming together as one BIG crowded city, so I really don’t think we missed much.

As I am writing this we are shoving off and I can feel a little rock & roll. Yep, just went out on the balcony and we are moving away from the dock heading to our next port. (Oh how I wish you could have joined me for the actual cruise, but……….)

PS: (11:30) Just got back from three shows that were so different you wouldn’t believe it. One was country and western, Another was 50 and 60’s music?, and the final was show tunes from everything from The Phantom to Annie get your gun with Ethyl Merman. Good stuff.
About to go to bed, but first I need to go down to internet capability and let you all know what’s up. What a wonderful trip. Again, hope you are enjoying this.

Next Stop

As I watch Katakolon fade into the sunset and savor my “Nail”, I think of Athens tomorrow.. We’ve had a wonderful, clear, “shorts”, day and have relaxed every minute of it. No tours today. Many workers were off today so that they could vote. Plus, the only thing worth seeing was where the Olympics were started. (Only ruins. I’m a ruin enough, so I skipped it.) Bought another small bag so that I wouldn’t pay another “overage” fee at the airport on my return to the good ole USA, and a few souvenirs, then came back to the Princess to wash clothes. (Yes, that still has to happen) Hope you enjoy the photos. The ole Man by the Sea was special. We were having some calamari and he just walked up to get some fish off his boat. Sonny might think this a wonderful “Photo Op”. Hope so. Will take lots of photos tomorrow in Athens I hope and will share asap.

Corfu, Greece

Hello again,

Here we are in Corfu, Greece. It’s in the Ionian Sea, midway between Greece and Italy. Took a tour this morning and like most places in this neck of the woods, it reeks of history. I heard things that I’ll never remember, but I can google this place and tweak my memory. The ship, the sights, the people, etc, etc are all wonderful and interesting. Although there are some people that look like they’ve been weaned on lemons, most everyone smiles and speak like they are having fun. Headed to Katakolon tomorrow, (no, I have no idea where that is) and will continue this wonderful journey. I do wish you were here, but if not, I hope you are enjoying this trip through this. Take care of things back home and I’ll be sharing tomorrow I hope. Will try to send photos again, so here’s hoping.
